Dining Month is brought to you through a partnership with Educators Credit Union, Potawatomi Hotel Casino and Saint Kate Arts Hotel.
After opening in July, Waking Daisy — the all-day café at 20340 W. Lord St. at The Corners of Brookfield — has begun to find its stride. It’s serving up cheerful vibes and delicious breakfast, lunch, and brunch dishes every day of the week.
Wondering what to order? These dishes will give you a place to start.
Daisy Cakes
Soft and fluffy, the Daisy Cakes are unlike any other pancakes you’ll find locally. The lemon zest gives them a citrusy tang, and the honey butter sauce soaks into the tender pancakes, infusing each bite with sweet, buttery flavor.
Norwegian Benedict
A beautifully fresh take on the classic Benedict, this dish features tender Norwegian smoked salmon, perfectly poached eggs, and the bright, licorice-like flavor of fresh dill. The hollandaise adds rich depth, while the smoked trout caviar delivers a salty, smoky punch that makes it feel like a special occasion.
Korean Breakfast Bowl
This might be my favorite of the dishes I tried. Fat grains of rice are swollen with the sweet, tangy flavors of kimchi and the slight kick of gochugaru. It’s perfect when gilded with the rich, runny yolks of sunny-side-up eggs. The tonkatsu-glazed pork belly is tender, sweet, and salty, adding to the umami-packed flavor, while the fresh carrots and pickled onions round out the dish beautifully.
Rose’s Breakfast Bowl
This vegetarian option is hearty and fresh. Ancient grains create the foundation, while the spicy beet “chorizo” (it’s got a bit of a kick), rich mashed avocado, roasted sweet potato, and smoked paprika aioli offer varied flavors and heft. It’s best when you mix everything together — including the silky soft eggs — so that the flavors can meld.
Mezze Bowl
A vibrant combination of Mediterranean flavors. Dill, mint, and feta join forces with lemon vinaigrette to brighten this bowl filled with grains, cucumber, tomato, and greens. Crispy chickpeas add texture, and halved six-minute eggs boost the protein.
Chicken Katsu Sando
If you love the crispy crust and tender, juicy meat that define katsu, this sandwich delivers. It’s dressed with Bulldog Tonkatsu sauce and kimchi, then served on thick slices of light, feathery Japanese milk bread that practically melt in your mouth.
Nathan’s Pastrami Reuben
A must-try for Reuben lovers. The house-smoked pastrami is flavorful and tender, paired perfectly with sauerkraut, coleslaw, and pickles. A clever blend of Gruyère and fontina cheeses brings both nuttiness and creaminess, while the house sauce adds a sweet, tangy touch reminiscent of Thousand Island.
Cocktails & Sips
Pair your brunch with a bold Espresso Martini — there’s enough coffee syrup to give you a gentle buzz — or one of Waking Daisy’s housemade Bloody Marys, which come with a High Life chaser. For something lighter (and Instagram-worthy), try the Paloma or the Egg (not pictured); the presentation of the classic cocktail is simply adorable.
Daisy to Go
Beginning Thursday, Oct. 9, Waking Daisy will launch Daisy to Go — a condensed menu of easy, portable dishes available for carry-out.
Options include Waking Daisy's popular Croissant Beignets, little mini doughnuts made from laminated dough that are crispy outside and tender inside (served with honey maple butter sauce), and Breakfast Parfaits made with rosewater yogurt, seasonal fruit, and granola accented with mint and lemon zest.
You’ll also find Overnight Oats (rolled oats, oat milk, maple syrup, chia seeds, and seasonal fruit) and handhelds like the Daybreak Burrito (chorizo, diced potato, onion, bell peppers, jalapeño, Chihuahua cheese, steamed egg, salsa verde, and crema on the side) and Barry’s Bagel & Lox Sandwich (bagel, smoked salmon, cream cheese, dill, capers, red onion, and tomato).
Traditional egg sandwiches will also be available, including the SEC Sandwich — a delicious “fast food” upgrade featuring a toasted English muffin, steamed egg, house sausage patty, Cooper’s Sharp cheese, and house sauce (substitute avocado mash for sausage upon request).
For something heartier, try the DLX Stack Sandwich, featuring a potato bun filled with steamed egg, house sausage patty, bacon, Cooper’s Sharp cheese, a hash brown patty, and house sauce (avocado mash available as a substitution). Add the Work Day Combo — a drip coffee for just +$2 with any breakfast sandwich or burrito.
Daisy to Go orders can be placed online and picked up inside the east door of the restaurant. Guests can also take advantage of 15-minute pick-up parking directly across from the entrance.
Watch for some fall-inspired updates coming soon, including new seasonal cocktails and flavors like caramel apple. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing Daisy to Go, Waking Daisy is ready to brighten your day.
Waking Daisy is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
