If you tore through books like "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret," "Deenie," "Blubber," "Forever" and "Summer Sisters," this event is for you. After years of research and conversations, author Mark Oppenheimer wrote a 400-page biography about the popular writer and unintentional founder of the YA genre, Judy Blume.
On Wednesday, March 18, Oppenheimer will engage in conversation with me (!) about "Judy Blume: A Life," at Centennial Hall inside the Central Library, 733 N. 8th St., at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The event is free. Go here to register.
Oppenheimer, a journalist, historian and long-time Blume aficionado, is on tour behind the highly anticipated book. "Judy Blume: A Life" was published by Penguin Random House and went on sale earlier this month.
Wednesday's event is sponsored by the Milwaukee Public Library and Boswell Book Co. The book will be for sale on-site, and a book signing with Oppenheimer will follow the discussion.
As a fan of Blume's since childhood, I am honored to serve as the moderator. Oppenheimer's book is loaded with details – from Blume's successes to her struggles – and I can't wait to dive into a discussion. Join us!
